Wow, I don't shill for EW but still. Ryan Reynolds is becoming an interesting young actor, and the bod doesn't hurt.

Just Say No

From Pill Talk

Amen

Via Andrew Sullivan:

"I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection."

In honor of the Tony for best revival

Why I love Matt Taibbi

He explains what a bumlicking ass-goblin is to the children confused about Hank Paulson's role in the financial crisis.

Torture, continued

As is often the case, Greenwald has a good take here on the unspeakable things being done in our name. Lakhdar Boumediene was held for as a terror suspect for eight years with no charges filed against him. And he was tortured. ABC had the presence of mind to interview Boumediene, which I'll post here.

For Dan G.

Chicken Tetrazzini!

I know it's old, but this never fails to make me laugh. Be sure to read Billz take at Red Steam.

Cool wedding invite

Takes customers away from paper invitations, which I favor, but still, kind of fun:

Tony Awards

Can't add too much to this from Andrew Osbourne at Screengrab In Exile, except my rant about the opening, which is not entirely in agreement with his assessment:

The Tony Awards committee and producers can rot in hell. WTF was that awful mashup opening? Poison? Really? Cole Porter is spinning like a turbine in his grave. And they're either all miked terribly or the sound tech should be fired. At least Liza's mike worked. F the Tony's. The world goes round indeed. Ok, the ending with the cast of Hair worked, but the sound still sucked.

And the cast of Hair is amazing in person.

Neil Patrick Harris rocks. Also.

As Dan says "A Spoonful of Awesome"

As my cohort Dan G. at wheresmymacandcheese points out, this guy is amazing. Dan has also shamed me into updating and maintaining my own blog, and I look forward to sharing content and opinion with he and the lovely Mary Beth.
